| Conference Mission |
Being a successful business woman has never been easy. Doing our best and being recognized for delivering what’s needed is not an easy goal to reach in China, nor is it so outside. Being successful means something different to everyone, but when it comes to our careers, making a contribution and leaving our mark is what we all strive for.
What separates the more successful women from those who will only ever just strive to reach their career pinnacle? There are many answers to this question. But we believe that there are certain skill sets and attributes that women can develop and use. These talents will give women a distinct advantage over others, and this is especially important when competing in a man’s world when the odds are stacked against us.
The Third Annual Women in Business Leadership Forum will explore and investigate what these talents are, and what each of us can do to best climb the corporate ladder, help others climb that ladder, and become the best at what we do!

The Language of Power |
| |
| |
People at the top sound differently than the rest of the organization. The language of power differs from the way these same people talk when they’re in discussion about everyday business issues. How do leaders speak? What do they say that takes them to the top of the company? Do leaders use language as a way to motivate people? Do leaders phrase ideas differently in order to bring about greater impact on those they speak to? Are these differences intentional or unconscious?
Do men speak differently than women do? Language plays a large part in how we interact with others, how we get things done and how they see us. With just a small adjustment in the words we use, we can change perceptions of us from being aggressive to being assertive. How would a man compose a sentence differently than a woman? What is added, left out or altered? How can a woman make the same point, get the same results without being labeled a Dragon Lady?

Should I Mentor, Or Should I Coach? |
| |
| |
Neither mentoring nor coaching are new concepts, but they have gained quite a bit of attention over the past year. What is all the excitement about?
As a profession, coaching has finally gained the recognition it deserves. North America and Europe embraced the concept of coaching more than ten years ago, and professional, certified coaches can be found in all organizations, and in all industries.
Coaching in China is beginning to appear on the talent management agenda, but do professionals in China really even know what it’s about? Is someone a coach just because she calls herself one? What qualifies a trainer to call herself a coach?
How does mentoring fit in to the organizational development landscape? Are coaching and mentoring the same? Where are the overlaps? What are the goals of each? When should we use a coach, and when should we use a mentor?

Deliberate Practice: Break Through Skill Plateaus and Empower Yourself to Reach "the peak"! |
| |
Today we are talking about “climbing the mountain”… have you ever noticed that when you develop a new skill, at the beginning it’s quite easy, we see huge improvements, which in turn motivates us to keep learning. But then... our skills plateau. We keep practicing, but see little growth... and we get into an act of “doing” as opposed to “learning.”
In this workshop, we’ll explore and apply the tenets of deliberate practice – a term coined by Dr. Anders Ericsson, psychology professor at Florida State University in his quest to understand what makes someone an expert in something.
While his extensive research has shown that practice is a very significant determinant of expertise, it is not just “practice makes perfect” – but how we practice that is key.
And while of course, the majority of us are not striving to be international experts in any one particular skill – we can emulate the behavior of experts- and maximize our development in less time, all the while fueling our passion and enthusiasm...
Come prepared to reflect on your experiences with an open mind, and you’ll have the opportunity to part the clouds and bring your mountain peak into view!

Influencing Skills: The Invisible Power (Mandarin) |
| |
Have you ever bought something because the sales rep seems trustworthy? Have you ever purchased a product because everyone has it? Have you ever changed your mind after listening to someone? What makes an effect on our thinking and doing? – The invisible power of influence.
As part of the social group, everyone influences everyone else, all the time. The question is: how effective can we do it?
There is no right way, nor is there only one way to influence others. Influencing is about adapting and modifying your personal style when you become aware of the affect you are having on other people, while still being true to yourself.
This workshop sets you out to discover your own influencing styles through fun exercises and expand your “spheres of influence” with more effective ways. You will be surprised how one style works better than another under certain circumstances; therefore being adaptive and flexible in influencing styles becomes essential.
This is an experiential workshop, you will take away more if coming with the spirit of exploration and an open mind.
Be a better influencer, start from here!
